About MedBiz Law

MedBiz Law is the healthcare-business practice brand of Bay Legal, PC, a California law firm. Every legal service described on this site is provided by Bay Legal, PC and its attorneys. The brand exists for one reason: focus.

Why a focused brand

Healthcare-business structuring is a specific kind of legal work with a specific audience — clinicians, founders, operators, and investors who need California’s professional-corporation, MSO, and physician-collaboration rules explained and applied, not a general menu of legal services. MedBiz Law is where that work lives: one subject, treated with the depth a general firm website can’t give it.

Nothing about the arrangement is layered or indirect. When you contact MedBiz Law, you’re contacting Bay Legal, PC. When you engage, the engagement is with Bay Legal, PC, under a written agreement, like any law-firm representation. The brand narrows the front door; it doesn’t change what’s behind it.

What MedBiz Law covers

The work this site describes, in one paragraph: forming and repairing professional corporations — medical and nursing — with the ownership and governance California requires; designing MSO structures and the management services agreements that connect the business side to the practice at fair market value; building the physician-collaboration layer — medical directors, collaborating physicians, standardized procedures — with real substance; and applying all of it to the operations that need it most: med spas, clinics, multi-provider groups, and telehealth. Practical framing throughout: who each structure is for, what it must control, and what to do next.

The firm behind the work

Bay Legal, PC is a California professional law corporation.

Office: 667 Lytton Ave Suite 3, Palo Alto, CA 94301
Phone: Northern California (650) 668-8000 · Southern California (213) 668-8000
Email: intake@baylegal.com

Bay Legal’s practice is broader than this site; MedBiz Law is the part of it dedicated to healthcare-business structure. Where a matter reaches beyond that focus, the same firm handles the handoff — one intake, one relationship.

How engagements run

The pattern is the same one described across this site, because it’s how the work actually goes:

A consultation first. You bring the situation — what you’re building or running, the documents if any, where the open questions sit. Unclear situations are welcome; mapping them is the point of the first conversation.

A structure view, then a scope. You get the shape of the problem, the options with their tradeoffs, and a defined scope of work before anything is committed — in plain English, in writing.

The work, documented. Formation, agreements, governance documents, or a review — delivered with explanations you can act on, not just files to hold.

Shield with checkmark, compliance iconScope: California only

MedBiz Law addresses California law only. Healthcare-business rules differ significantly by state, and this site doesn’t advise on any other state’s. Multi-state operators are welcome where the question is California — treating California patients, expanding into California, or a California entity inside a larger structure.

FAQ

A few direct answers

Is MedBiz Law a law firm?

MedBiz Law is a practice brand of Bay Legal, PC, a California law firm — not a separate company, directory, or referral service. All legal services described on this site are provided by Bay Legal, PC and its attorneys, and any engagement is with Bay Legal, PC under a written agreement.

Why two names?

Focus. Bay Legal’s practice covers more than healthcare-business structure; MedBiz Law is the dedicated home for the professional-corporation, MSO, and physician-collaboration work — built so the people who need exactly that can find exactly that. The footer of every page identifies the firm behind the brand.

Who will I actually work with?

Bay Legal, PC attorneys and staff, from intake through the engagement. Every engagement identifies the responsible attorneys in writing.

Does MedBiz Law handle matters outside California?

No — this site and the work it describes address California law only. If your question is how another state’s rules apply, you need counsel licensed there; if your question is California’s piece of a multi-state structure, that’s exactly what we do.
